The Abbess of Mount Athos Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God and the Holy Relics of St. Gabriel of Mount Athos will be at the Cathedral November 21-23.
On this occasion we’ve added to the calendar of services and additional Vigil service on Friday November 21st with veneration of the Abbess of Mount Athos Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God and the Holy Relics of St. Gabriel of Mount Athos.
On Sunday 13 July our father rector installed a new icon, an icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, named the Gatekeeper, in the centre of the church.
This icon was executed and consecrated in Athos, the Greek mountain monastery, and was recently offered to a pilgrim named Valery with the instruction to leave it in the first church where he would pray. Thus, this icon of the Most Holy Theotokos Portaitissa of mount Athos ended up in our place a few days ago. Father Anatoly accepted this gift with the gratitude from the whole parish. We need now to make a kiot for this icon, which will be hung in the left transept of the church.
This same person had previously offered our church an icon of the Holy Matron of Moscow and funded the making of a kiot to enshrine it.
We warmly thank all those who financially contribute to adorning our cathedral. We wish everyone to benefit from the spiritual help and the intercession of the Theotokos.
On Saturday August 2 at 10 am our clergy will minister Divine Liturgy in the St. Seraphim church in Rawdon on the day of the Saint Patron of this church.
As we did in previous years a bus for pilgrims will depart from our cathedral in Montreal at 8 am to Rawdon, and will depart back to Montreal from Rawdon at 4 pm the same day.
If you want to join us on this celebration day, please sign in in the candles shop.
Moleben with cross bearing around the church and polychronion will be ministered as well.
On 30 March after the Divine Liturgy a new icon was consecrated for our church, an icon of the Venerable Roman the Melodist.
This icon enshrined in a wooden icon case will hang in the choir for special veneration by our choristers: they will always be able to ask the saint for help through prayers. The Venerable Roman is known above all for his fervent desire to glorify God by his voice and singing, and because by a special favour of the Mother of God towards him he composed the famous kontakion of the Nativity of Christ “Today the Virgin gives birth to the Transcendent One…”.
On the day of St. Catherine on December 7, in our church we held a festive Divine Liturgy.
Father Anatoly and father Alexander dressed in red felony and stole that happens in the days of special memory of great martyrs for the glory of God. We have repeatedly noted that Saturday services create a special cozy atmosphere for a focused prayer under the crooning of the choir in the right aisle of the church. That day, among parishioners, many women named Catherine were present – Father Anatoly congratulated them especially at the end of the service and gave each a communion bread at the kissing of the cross.

A very special visit from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra: the Relics of Saint-Vladimir. A special liturgy and procession was celebrated by our most reverend Jonah, Metropolitan of the All America and Canada.
